TOUR DU JOUR: FIELD TRIPS BASED ON TEMPORARY EXHIBITIONS

State of Excellence: Treasures from Florida Private Collections
January 26 - April 29, 2018

This exhibition of American and European art from the 18th through the 20th centuries features outstanding paintings, sculpture, and decorative arts from private collections in Florida. Visual Arts, Social Studies and Language Arts standards. Recommended for grades 5-12. Accommodates 2 classes.

Enduring Beauty: Seminole Art and Culture
March 23 - July 8, 2018

Students explore Florida history in the form of traditional clothing, articles of personal adornment, and domestic crafts by the Seminole people, from the early 19th century to the mid-20th century. Examples of distinctive Seminole patchwork and appliqué, dolls, sashes, and basketry are complemented by historical paintings, prints and photographs that document Seminole life over two centuries. Visual Arts, Social Studies, Mathematics, and Language Arts standards. Recommended for grades 4-12. Accommodates 2 classes.

FIELD TRIPS BASED ON PERMANENT COLLECTIONS

Dig and Discover: Investigating Art of the Ancient Americas
Ongoing through May 27, 2017

Students explore ancient cultures of North, Central and South America through beautiful objects in the Art of the Ancient Americas collection, and learn how archaeology helps us learn about the past. Visual Arts, Social Studies and Science standards. Recommended for grades 3-5. Accommodates 2 classes.


The Inquiring Eye: Scrutinizing American Art
Ongoing through May 27, 2017

Using critical response, students identify, interpret, and assess visual imagery in paintings and sculpture in the context of American history and culture. Visual Arts, Social Studies and Language Arts standards. Recommended for grades 3-12. Accommodates 3 classes.
