Summer Art Camps: Grades 1-2
Come travel the world as we explore art forms and techniques from different cultures. Try your hand at Chinese printmaking, Indian batik, Navajo weaving, Mexican folk art, and so much more!
Explore the Everglades, flora, and fauna with the sights and sounds of the Seminole! Your art will be inspired by the music, movement, and expressive art of the Native American Seminole. Celebrate your creativity with a Green Corn festival at the end of the week!
Natural Connections In the morning, express yourself using portraiture by experimenting with pastels, paint, clay, and collage. In the afternoon, make connections between art and the natural environment by discovering the wonders of our planet and exploring the elements of water, earth, fire, and air!
JUNE 25-JUNE 29
Venture into the land of make-believe in this camp combining art, literature, and drama! Explorers will be inspired by authors and illustrators as they expand their imagination, art skills, creativity, and self-expression. Stories will come to life through art, creative play, games, movement, and music.

The Wonder of Color
Do you ever “see red” or “feel blue?” Discover the power of color this week as you explore the color wheel and color relationships. Learn how to create pigments, while also experimenting with warm and cool colors to find out how color creates a mood. Experience the importance of color when creating art!
It’s time to “strut like Tut” as you explore the history and culture of ancient Egypt. Design a mural for a pyramid wall, create a headdress fit for a ruler, make a miniature pyramid, and design hieroglyphs. Pssst . . . don’t forget to tell your “mummy!”
Become a “Chihuligan” as you spend the week learning about the glass sculpture of Dale Chihuly and other artists who work in glass, while painting, printing, and sculpting! Light and color are the focus of this week as you create your own Chihuly-inspired masterpieces.
Crazed for Clay
Firing fee: $5
There is nothing like hand-building in clay to develop fine motor skills! Be inspired by ceramics of Africa and the Americas to create vessels, sculpture, jewelry, and more using pinch, coil, model, and slab methods. Learn to burnish and glaze finished pieces, which will be kiln-fired.
JULY 30-AUGUST 3
The Art of Peace
Make new friends this week as you explore printmaking, painting, hand-building clay, and other techniques to create t-shirts, jewelry, prints, paintings, and sculpture that convey messages of camaraderie and cooperation. Each student should bring a washed white cotton t-shirt clearly marked with his or her name.
Art of the Book
Become inspired by the picture book exhibition Zen Tales: The Art of Jon J. Muth. Write your own stories, create illustrations using a variety of media, and learn simple bookbinding techniques to create unique storybooks!
Full Day, 9am-4pm or Half Day, 9am-noon or 1-4pm.
For full-day participation, students should bring a lunch and a drink.
Lunchtime supervision is provided for full-day attendance.Dress for a mess!
