Disruptive Discourse: The Museum and Contemporary Conceptions of Identity
During Art Museum Day

In recognition of International Museum Day, this lecture will analyze the importance and influence of identity within contemporary art practices. For many artists, the creation and display of contemporary art is their attempt to deconstruct systems of power and reinterpret cultural narratives. In addition to biographical information on each of the selected artists, the lecture will ruminate on the disruptive effect of visual art on the viewer through selections from the OMA. This lecture is FREE to the public. Does not include gallery admission.
