Art in the Afternoon

Unleash your creativity with an afternoon of art! Students will have the opportunity to engage with authentic works of art in the museum, in addition to creating unique pieces in the studio. Students will explore the elements and principles of design, all while further developing their artistic talents. Ideal for ages 7-13!

Friday, September 1: Wonderful Weavings
Be inspired by the large-scale woven tapestries of Akiko Kotani, winner of the 2023 Florida Prize in Contemporary Art. Explore weaving techniques to create a colorful woven bowl, as well as a mini woven sea turtle!
Friday, October 6: Sensational Storyboards
Learn how to develop a story through illustration! Be inspired by the exhibition, Something Like A Hello: The Picture Book Art of Loren Long. Create a storyboard involving a plot, setting, and characters, all imagined by you!
Friday, November 3: Fall Landscapes
Create artwork inspired by the fall season! Venture into the galleries and see how many works of art you can find that showcase this time of year. Incorporate hues of yellow, orange, red, purple, and brown to create vibrant fall landscape scenes.
Friday, December 1: Picture Frame Fun!
This holiday season design a picture frame that includes a photo of you taken at OMA! Use popsicle sticks, sequins, paint, and more to give the gift of you!
REFUND POLICY
Full refunds will be provided if a class does not meet minimum enrollment and is cancelled. A refund equal to half of tuition paid will be provided for cancellations made up to 7 days prior to the first day of the class. No refunds, no exceptions, will be made if the cancellation is made less than 7 days prior to a class. Refund requests must be made in writing and should be emailed to education@omart.org.
