Urban Sketching with OMA

A Series of Workshops Contributing to The Sketchbook Project ​Select days and times, in various locations around Orlando In these monthly meetups, participants will hone their drawing abilities and fill a sketchbook with images of Central Florida. The completed sketchbooks will be collected at the Museum on June 1, and then sent to the Brooklyn Art Library to be added to a growing collection of international sketchbooks. Your sketchbook will be digitized to ensure you can access it online after it is added to the Library’s collection.The Sketchbook Project is a global art project organized by the Brooklyn Art Library in New York. There are over 36,000 sketchbooks in the collection from 100+ countries. The public is welcome to view and interact with the sketchbooks in the library. For more information, visit https://www.brooklynartlibrary.com/ Artists of all abilities are encouraged to participate in this class. The class is open to high school students and adults. Your materials fee includes an official Sketchbook Project sketchbook and digitization of the book following the completion of the project. You will also have access to basic drawing materials at each meeting. One-on-one instruction will be provided by Catherine Cross. Please meet at the specified location. More instructions on where to meet will be provided via email prior to the class meeting.

DATES/LOCATIONS

FEBRUARY 4 1-4 pm At Orlando Museum of ArtWe’ll learn basic sketching techniques in the studio and then move into the galleries and Loch Haven Park to begin working in our sketchbooks. Please note that this first meeting is three hours in length. MARCH 4 10am-12pm At Rollins College and Park Avenue in Winter Park APRIL 22 10am-12pm At the Lake Eola Farmer’s Market MAY 5 10am-12pm At Leu Gardens (admission fee covered by class tuition)

Season Tuition: $80 + $65 Materials Fee, includes official sketchbook and digitization Museum Members receive a 10% discount on tuition No refunds will be provided. Students must register for the class 10 days prior to the first meeting to ensure their materials arrive on time.
