Summer Art Camps: Grades 9-12

ENTERING GRADES 9-12

Classes are designed to strengthen skills by experimenting with mixed media, drawing, painting, and printmaking. Students will explore a variety of art genres and discover new observational techniques that will help them improve their artistic abilities. Four weeklong, half-day sessions are available.

JUNE 10-14
      
       
Clay 101 
9:00 am - noon ONLY

Firing fee: $10
Expand your knowledge of all things clay. Learn fundamental hand-building techniques by pinching, rolling, and coiling clay, all while exploring shape, form, and function. Be inspired by the vessels, jugs, and artifacts found in the Ancient Americas Collection to create your own clay pieces. Some pieces will be glazed and fired for pickup at a later date.

JUNE 24-28           

Drawing 
9:00 am - noon ONLY

Enhance your drawing skills by discovering how to properly use pencil, ink, and color. Create a one of a kind visual art journal to use throughout the week for both sketching and journaling. Explore the art of observational drawing by sketching in the galleries, drawing portraits and still-life scenes.

Painting 
9:00 am - noon ONLY

BRUSH up on your painting skills! Work with acrylic, watercolor, and tempera paints to create unique works of art. Perfect your painting techniques by learning new brush tricks and experimenting with various brush sizes. Dive into color theory in order to truly understand how to capture the essence of the subject matter you are trying to create.

JULY 22-26

Printmaking  
1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Learn how the elements and principles of design apply to printmaking. Explore a variety of printmaking techniques and processes to produce quality prints. Use basic linoleum block printing as you carve and print to create images in black and white, color, and various shapes and sizes.

For full-day participation, students should bring a lunch and a drink. Lunchtime supervision is provided for full-day attendance.

Registration Information

Registrations are accepted on a space-available basis prior to the first day of class. We reserve the right to cancel any session that does not meet the minimum enrollment. Full payment is required before your child’s registration will be processed (we cannot hold a space for your child until we receive full payment). We process registrations as they are received. You will be notified if the sessions you requested are full. Once you submit a registration, an email confirmation will be sent to verify your child’s enrollment. Discounts*

Sibling/Group Discount
Enroll more than one child the same week of sessions and receive a $10/week discount for each additional child enrolled. Discount only applies for children registered at the same time.

Multi-week Discounts
Receive a $10/week discount for multiple week enrollment after the first week.

 * Only one discount eligible per registration (not including membership discount).
