The Orlando Museum of Art seeks a dynamic, engaging Museum Educator to develop, implement, and evaluate meaningful programs for adult, teen, and lifelong‑learning audiences. This role designs and facilitates gallery talks, lectures, workshops, and outreach programs that connect visitors with the museum’s rotating exhibitions and permanent collection.
The Museum Educator leads gallery experiences and community access programs, including initiatives that support visitors with disabilities and diverse communities. As part of a collaborative four‑person Education team, this position works closely with museum staff, volunteers, and community partners to expand access to art and deepen public engagement.
We are looking for someone who is an excellent public speaker, a natural facilitator, and a confident communicator — someone who brings energy, clarity, and warmth to every interaction. A strong foundation in art history, museum teaching strategies, and audience‑centered learning is essential. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, and comfortable managing multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.
This position requires a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and lead innovative adult, teen, and lifelong‑learning programs (both in‑house and outreach) that complement exhibitions and the permanent collection
- Facilitate gallery talks, lectures, workshops, and community outreach programs
- Build and maintain community partnerships and collaborate with organizations that serve diverse audiences
- Develop, coordinate, and implement programs for visitors of all ages with disabilities, ensuring accessible learning experiences
- Manage administrative tasks related to scheduling, logistics, and program evaluation
- Represent the museum throughout the community with professionalism and enthusiasm
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in art history, museum education, museum studies, or related field (master’s degree welcome but not required)
- 2–5 years of experience in museum education, public programming, teaching, or
related fields - Strong knowledge of art history and current museum teaching strategies
- Excellent public speaking, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse audiences and communities
- Experience supporting accessible programs is a plus
- Exceptional administrative and organizational skills
- Detail‑oriented, proactive, and able to manage multiple projects with grace and
good humor
