Art Adventures

Catherine Cross

Select Fridays, 9:30-10:30am

Early childhood art for preschoolers with an attending adult. Designed as a first adventure with art-making, preschool children ages 3-5 enjoy exploring materials and techniques in a stimulating and inviting environment that fosters engagement and creativity. Dress for mess!

January 18: Home is Where the Art Is

Imagine a world where your home is made of paper, patterns, grids, graphs, and lots of dots! Be inspired by Jennifer Bartlett’s artwork, HOUSE, consisting of 25 prints resembling houses. Have fun creating a 2D house with printmaking and mark making, then add pom-poms and clay shapes to go 3D.

February 8: Art for the HeART

This art adventure will take you on a journey filled with love! You’ll love learning about colors, textures, and shapes. Mix a variety of materials together to create special works of heART! Experiment with texture rubbings, paper, paint, and age-appropriate inks to create the art that’s in your heart!

March 8: Totally Rad!

View colorful works of abstract art in the galleries that are big, bright, and bold! Move and groove as you create your own 3D artwork in the style of John Chamberlain’s sculpture, Lazzarini’s Pie! Scrunch, crunch, shape, and paint a colorful sculpture to take home.

April 5: Painting the World Around Us

Color, shape, line, space, texture, and value are all elements of art that make up the world around us! Journey through the galleries to see how landscapes are created in a variety of ways using the elements of art. Paint your own canvas and share how the world looks to YOU through your eyes!

May 3: Paint pARTy

Join us for an end of the season celebration! Create a box village outside using cardboard boxes and paints for a painting extravaganza! Dress for a mess — bathing suits, old t-shirts, flip-flops, and old sneakers are encouraged. This outdoor party will take place on the patio with a water hose to add to the fun! Bring a towel and dry clothes too!
