This second iteration of Imagining Landscapes expands the selection of riveting landscapes from the Orlando Museum of Art collection, spanning a variety of media from painting, to photography and mixed media. The exhibition presents newly gifted works from the Cottrell-Lovett Collection.

A Day of Four Sunsets presents a new body of work by Miami-based artist Dennis Scholl, exploring the poetics of space exploration through assemblages of NASA memorabilia.

These works collectively encourage us to retain the playful mind of a child while also offering a warning against a candy-colored, enticing exterior: “Beware: This is not a toy.”

The Florida Prize in Contemporary Art is organized by the Orlando Museum of Art (OMA) to bring new recognition to the most progressive artists in the State. Each year OMA’s curatorial team surveys artists working throughout Florida, inviting ten leading individuals or collectives to participate. An invited and distinguished juror then selects one artist or team to receive the $20,000 The Florida Prize. Artists range from emerging to mid-career, often with a distinguished record of exhibitions and awards that reflect recognition at national and international levels. In all cases, they are artists who are engaged in exploring significant ideas in art and culture in original and visually exciting ways. The Florida Prize in Contemporary Art underscores OMA’s commitment to the art of our time and to supporting artists who live and work in our state.

October 2025 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Robert Rauschenberg, a pioneering force in 20th-century art whose radical experimentation reshaped the boundaries of painting and redefined the possibilities of printmaking.

The exhibition includes 100 watercolors by FWS members selected by a distinguished juror, award-winning watercolor artist, Matthew Bird, whose work has been featured in major art magazines. 

Jason Chin (American, born 1978) has written and illustrated award winning children’s books, including Redwoods, Grand Canyon, and Your Place in the Universe. His paintings in Watercress, alongside storytelling by Andrea Wang, garnered a 2022 Caldecott Medal. With a love for scientific wonders, he has illuminated the mysteries of coral reefs, redwood trees, the Galápagos Islands, gravity, and the elemental particles that make us who we are.
