Meditation in the Gallery

Saturdays, September 14, October 19, November 9 and December 7

10:30 am - noon

Join us for an introduction to mindfulness and concentration practices that support meditation. The artwork on view will be used as points of reflection, concentration, meditation, and investigation. Bring your love of art and your desire to build a contemplative practice together into one space. Throughout the three sessions, you will learn concrete techniques for how to hold the body, breathe, focus the mind, release unbeneficial thoughts, relax tension in the mind and body, and observe the movements of the mind.

These skills can be cultivated, and in so doing you will achieve moments of clarity, equanimity, and joy. Meditation is a practice.  Anyone can learn how to do it with ever more skill and positive results. It just takes a little bit of knowledge and a lot of desire to establish this life practice.

This is a beginners’ class, so we welcome people who do not have a meditation practice. However, if you need a brush up of an old skill, feel free to join and re-ignite your practice. You will learn concrete and specific ways to make your practice more enjoyable and more beneficial.
