Winter Art Camp at the Orlando Museum of Art offers children in grades 1–5 a full day of making, looking, and thinking about art during school holidays. Each winter features a new theme, inspired by the museum’s exhibitions, collections, or big ideas that excite young artists.
Campers spend their days in the studio and galleries, experimenting with materials and learning how artists use line, color, texture, and composition to share ideas. The setting is structured but relaxed. Children have room to try new techniques, ask questions, and build confidence in their own creative choices.
Each day starts with a welcome activity in the studio and an introduction to the camp’s current theme. Teaching artists guide campers through one or more projects that may include drawing, painting, collage, or simple sculpture.
Campers visit the galleries to look closely at selected works that connect to what they are doing in the studio. They discuss what they notice, how artists work, and how those ideas might influence their own pieces.
The day includes time for breaks, lunch, and movement. At the end of the session, campers share their work with each other and reflect on what they created. Extended day options are available for families who need care beyond the core 9:00am–4:00pm schedule.
