Part of the 2025 Florida Prize in Contemporary Art Exhibit
Nathalie Alfonso is a Colombian-born, Florida-based artist whose monumental, process-driven drawings transform physical labor into poetic expression. Inspired by her disciplined roots as a competitive athlete and her early experiences with unseen labor and domestic work, Alfonso channels repetition, endurance, and gesture into site-specific works that make the invisible visible. Her immersive installations, often created through weeks of meticulous movement, echo the delicate balance of natural ecosystems and honor the quiet, persistent efforts that sustain our daily lives. Through pieces like LineScape—Onset, Alfonso invites viewers to reflect on the beauty found in persistence, motion, and the traces we leave behind.
