This exhibition presents a selection of portrait photographs of 50 internationally renowned artists and writers who were living in Florida during the last decades of the 20th century. This extraordinary archive was created by Orlando-based photographer Jimm Roberts who embarked on a 20-year mission  to interview these exceptional individuals and document them in their studios and working environments. The project provides new insight into their artistic practices and personalities, while also recognizing an important chapter in Florida’s cultural history.

Included in the exhibition are the portraits of some of the most influential artists of their generation and bestselling writers who have won Pulitzer Prizes,  National Book Awards and a Nobel Prize Laureate. Among the 50 are Edward Albee, Ann Beattie, John Chamberlain, Marjory Stoneman Douglas, Roy  Lichtenstein, Alison Lurie, Robert Rauschenberg, Isaac B. Singer and Joy Williams. The exhibition will include excerpts and quotes from Roberts’s extensive notes and conversations with his subjects.

Thank you to Dr. Phillips Charities for making this exhibition possible.
