Spring break is the perfect time to kickstart your child’s creativity at the Orlando Museum of Art! Unlike traditional day camps, Spring Art Camp offers children a unique opportunity to create one-of-a-kind art within an art museum surrounded by world-class exhibitions.
March 13, 16-20
Spend your break making art inspired by the world around you, by pure imagination, and by all the fascinating spaces where fact and fantasy meet. Sketch and paint from real life, dream up imaginative creatures and landscapes, and explore ideas that blur the line between reality and make-believe. Bring your creative energy to the art studio where possibilities are limitless!
Kick off Spring Break by becoming a pARTy animal! Go on an animal hunt to see how many you can find represented in the galleries. Create all kinds of animal creations using paint, airdry clay, yarn, sequins, and more!
Discover the joy of plein air painting (the act of painting outdoors)! Soak in the fresh air as you paint the Florida landscape that surrounds the museum. Weather permitting, easels will be provided for plein air painting by Lake Estelle. Dress comfortably for painting outside.
Calling all leprechauns! Go green this St. Patrick’s Day by creating artwork inspired by the Irish holiday. Use lucky pencils, paint brushes, scissors, and glue sticks to design treasured artwork only found at the end of a rainbow!
Get real this spring by drawing and painting things from real life! Discover how to design a still life drawing or painting, while also learning how to showcase shadow, texture, and value within your artwork.
Is this dark? Is this light? Is this soft? Is this hard? Spend the day discovering how you interpret and create art using color, shape, line, and more. Read Opposites Abstract by Mo Willems to spark your own ideas and opinions about what art can be!
Explore the cosmos this break by creating artwork inspired by space! View the exhibition Dennis Scholl: A Day of Four Sunsets and learn how the topic of space can be transformed into art. Like Scholl, design a work of art in the shape of dodecagon (a 12-sided polygon) using a variety of materials.
Spring Art Camp at the Orlando Museum of Art offers children in grades 1–5 a full day in the studios and galleries during spring break. Each year, the camp features a new theme that draws inspiration from the museum’s collection, special exhibitions, or big questions that interest young artists.
Campers spend time looking closely at works of art and then create their own pieces in response. They explore materials such as paint, drawing tools, collage, and simple sculpture. The focus is on expressing their own ideas while learning how artists use line, color, and form to share stories and experiences.
A full refund (minus a $25 handling fee) is available if cancellation is submitted in writing at least two weeks before the session begins. No refunds will be issued after that point, and no refunds are available for missed days.
