Winter Art Camp: Past, Present, and Future!
Fasten your artist berets and smocks because every day of this holiday break we’ll be either jumping backwards, skipping forward, or pausing to appreciate the here and now! Spend your days creating with an assortment of materials as you discover ancient artifacts of the past, explore contemporary artwork of the present, and imagine the artwork of the future.

Monday, December 23:
The Art of Music and Skateboard Culture
Rock out this holiday season! Be inspired by the exhibitions on view such as Torn Apart: Punk + New Wave Graphics, Fashion and Culture, PUSH: J. Grant Brittain 80s Skateboarding Photography, and Front Row Center: Icons of Rock, Blues, and Soul. Design punk rocks, make music inspired collages, and create mini skateboards to finger-skate!

Winter Wonderland
In the studio, art is glistening! A beautiful sight, we’re happy campers alright ― creating in a winter wonderland! Explore artwork from the past and present that expresses the chilly season while creating snowy winter scenes using paint, cotton balls, and other embellishments
Friday, December 27:
Little Golden Books
View the exhibition, Golden Legacy: Original Art from 80 Years of Golden Books and discover what it takes to become a picture book illustrator. Learn how to design a storyboard, make your own Little Golden Book, and create Poky Little Puppy puppets!
Monday, December 30:
100 Years of OMA
It’s the last day of camp for 2024, which means it’s the last day to celebrate the museum’s 100th birthday! Help OMA end its 100th year by embellishing 100-year crowns and glasses, designing a New Year’s Eve (NYE) firework painting, making birthday/NYE air-dry clay cupcakes, and so much more!

Futuristic Fun!
Welcome to the year 2025! Visualize all the fun, joy, and art that this year will bring. Design a vision board filled with all you hope to accomplish and do! Create futuristic artwork inspired by what you anticipate our world looking like in fifty to hundred years!
Friday, January 3:
Artistic Animals
Let your imagination run WILD! Go on an animal hunt in the galleries and see how many you can find. Travel back in time to the Ancient Americas and view artifacts in the shape of jaguars, monkeys, frogs, and more. Explore the picture book exhibition, Golden Legacy: Original Art from 80 Years of Golden Books and see how many books feature an animal as the main character. Be inspired to create your own animal illustrations and air-dry clay figures.
Monday, January 6:
Rock Out!
Discover how the visual arts and music can combine into one! Be inspired by the guitars featured in the exhibition, Front Row Center: Icons of Rock, Blues, and Soul, then create your own using cardboard, string, and more. Upcycle retro vinyl records by painting designs on them and reimagining their album cover sleeves to be fictional music that you’d want to hear!
