Before the 1920s, photography was not considered fine art. Ansel Adams, Anne Brigman, Imogen Cunningham, Paul Outerbridge, Man Ray, Alfred Stieglitz, Edward Steichen, Paul Strand, James Van Der Zee, and Edward Weston helped change that perception with new ideas and new darkroom techniques
